Inscryption was developed by Daniel Mullins Games and was released in 2021. The indie development studio Team Painkiller had previously developed the title Afraid of Monsters and was already able to collect small successes in the modding community. Cry of Fear then became even better known through various Let's Plays on YouTube.The story revolves around Simon, who really just wants to go home. But the virtual Stockholm he finds himself in seems anything but normal. Monsters and creatures are everywhere.
The game is clearly inspired by Silent Hill, but still creates its own dynamic and atmosphere. It is based on a mixture of survival horror and psychological horror, with limited resources and an enthralling story that is measured in places with large game series .And the best thing is that Cry of Fear is completely free to download on Steam. There's even a co-op campaign with new story content.
